Editorial policy
Southern Living Review aims to be clear about what a story says, what supports it and where its limits lie. We do not treat a familiar claim or regional stereotype as fact simply because it is often repeated.
Accuracy and context
We check names, terminology and factual claims against suitable sources before publication, and frame examples with their relevant place and context. If a point is uncertain, contested or outside a story's scope, we say so rather than imply certainty.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for their relevance to readers, not as a promise of favourable coverage. A collaboration does not buy an editorial conclusion, and partner involvement does not remove our responsibility to describe a subject honestly.
Corrections
If we find a material error, we correct the article and make the change clear where appropriate. Readers can send a correction through the Contact page; a specific passage and any supporting context help us review it.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner-supported material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when relevant, we identify them and do not present illustrative images as documentary evidence.
A region is more than its familiar symbols.
Southern life varies from place to place and changes over time. We look at its details with curiosity, context and a healthy suspicion of easy generalisations.
